Phuket, Thailand, is one of the world’s biggest tourist destinations, and the Southeast Asian island is home to many beach clubs.

Some of the biggest names have entered the Phuket scene, and some of them, like Nikki Beach Phuket, have already fallen by the wayside.

So, our team was keen to find out what was going on in Phuket, and now that they’ve reviewed a substantial number of the area’s beach clubs, they’re happy to publish their first-ever top 20 beach clubs in Phuket, Thailand. Check them out.

Our Top 20 Beach Clubs In Phuket

1. RAVA Beach Club

RAVA is a new beach club in Phuket from the swish Banyan Tree Hotel group, and it has the largest beachfront of any beach club in Thailand.

It is also the joint leader of our Phuket top 20. While it’s not cheap, this is a place to go when you want to be really pampered. The kind of beach club that you visit once in a vacation to have a day you will really remember.

It’s not about parties and wild times, though; it’s about chilling in refined luxury and living the way that celebrities do on their days off.

2. Maya Beach Club Phuket

Maya Beach Club is on a beach of gloriously soft sand, where you can have a nice romantic sunset walk as part of your experience.

The entertainment is good with a nighttime DJ and fire show, though they could, perhaps, put a little more effort into the daytime side of their music – we don’t mind piped tunes, but there could be a bit of variety.

Overall, Maya is the kind of place where they pay attention to the small details, and that’s why they share joint first place in our round-up.

3. Ocean Beach Club, Phuket

Congratulations to Ocean Beach Club, which is the first one of two Pullman Resorts-owned beach clubs to make our top 5 beach clubs in Thailand.

The massive circular pool that acts as a central feature for this beach club is reason enough to visit, but the incredible service is a good reason to stay.

Everything here is at the highest level of hotel beach club experiences, and we’d be happy to return to Ocean Beach Club at some point in the future.

4. Nomad Beach Club Phuket

Nomad is one of the big players in the beach club scene in Phuket, and that was surprising to us, because they don’t have a pool!

However, they really haven’t let that hold them back, and we felt that Nomad was worth going to just for the quality of the entertainment (DJs and fire show).

And while the food menu was expensive, we found the food to be well-presented (Instagram addicts ahoy) and super tasty.

5. Edge Beach Club

The Pullman resorts in Phuket really know how to do beach clubs, and Edge is very nearly in the same league as Ocean Beach Club.

The only really separating factor is the pool, which is more ordinary than the one at Ocean Beach Club, but still more than nice enough to make you want to grab a daybed and spend all day there.

Hotels never redefine or reinvent the beach club experience, but when they’re good as this once is, they do provide a wonderfully comfortable day out.

6. Nora Beach Club

Nora Beach Club is one of the big draws of the beach club scene in Phuket, with a name that has some international recognition, and our review team was excited to check it out.

It has one of the best online reservation systems of any beach club in the area (though that’s not saying much, online booking is still on the ark in Thailand).

We also thought that the entertainment was excellent with a good fire show (almost every beach club has a fire show in Phuket, mind you, and none of them are bad) and decent DJ sets that really lift the energy of the club.

7. The Deck Beach Club

The Deck is an offering from Four Points by Sheraton. It’s an excellent example of what a hotel beach club can be, and you can rely on good service and quality standards.

It is a little corporate, but that’s pretty much always going to be the case when it comes to big chain hotels and their beach clubs, and it still looks good in pictures.

The big downside is that there’s clearly a “beach club premium” and then a “5-star hotel chain” premium added to the prices, making it a very expensive day out.

8. Laku Beach Club

Laku Beach Club makes you feel wealthy because it’s located on a private island off the coast of Phuket, and to get there, you must arrive by boat. (It’s worth noting that this requirement means that this beach club is completely inaccessible to wheelchair users).

It is very much on the expensive side of beach club life in Thailand, because there’s nothing quite like having a captive audience, right?

However, we had a really pleasant day at Laku Beach Club, and while we wouldn’t rush back due to the prices, we would recommend checking it out if you fancy a little treat while on holiday.

9. G Beach Club

G Beach Club is one of those chilled-out tropical beach clubs where you know you’re going to have a nice, long, relaxing day in the sun.

It’s not offering nor claiming to deliver anything more than that, and it succeeds in its mission in spades.

We liked the music, the drinks were cold, and the food was extremely tasty. What’s not to like about that?

10. Selina Beach Club

Selina is a unique proposition in the beach club scene in Phuket, because it’s pet-friendly, yes, you can take your doggy companion with you, and they are welcome in all the outdoor areas of this club.

Now, if you’re allergic to dogs or just afraid of them, you might want to give Selina a bit of a wide berth, instead.

However, if you do go, you’ll find a decent if unspectacular hotel beach club where our furry chums can run around and enjoy the island sun.

11. M Beach Club

M Beach Club isn’t really a beach club, even though it has “beach club” in the name. Our rule at the world’s best beach clubs, though, is to review every property that either resembles a beach club or claims to be one.

And we liked this place. It may not have a pool, but it does have access to the beach (just don’t go swimming), which is nice enough, and some comfy seating.

Most of all, it has Phuket’s only oceanfront smokehouse, and we love ourselves some tasty BBQ, which you will definitely find at M Beach Club.

12. FUGA Beach Club

FUGA is a neat little beach club with some irregular live DJs that brighten up the nights. You must book in advance if you want to be poolside, because this place is super small.

That scale means that it’s intimate and a good place for meeting new people, but if you find yourself alongside people who aren’t quite your cup of tea, there’s nowhere else for you to go either.

Overall, though, you’ll have a pleasant day at FUGU, which does a solid job of delivering a beach club experience on Phuket’s party beach of Patong.

13. Cafe Del Mar

Cafe Del Mar in Phuket is certainly better than its cousin in Bali, but there’s a real issue at this beach club and one that is out of the control of the beach club itself.

The beach is hideous. It’s covered in trash and sewage, and while there have been talks about making this right for almost a decade, nothing has come of it.

That’s a shame, but if you can put up with staying away from the beach at a beach club, then Cafe Del Mar, Phuket, offers a decent day out.

14. Carpe Diem Beach Club

We actually really liked Carpe Diem, which is owned by two former Nikki Beach managers; it’s got a great vibe, and it looks fantastic.

However, we felt it was one of the most overpriced experiences you could have in Phuket, and that resulted in a much lower score than it could achieve with a little less “our customers are our ATM” philosophy.

If you do go, go later in the day when the DJs are on the decks and the party vibe is in full swing; there’s no need to rush there to pay above-market rates to listen to piped beach club tunes.

15. Yona Beach Club

Our biggest concern with Yona is that it would be leaning too hard on the gimmick of being Phuket’s only floating beach club. Yes, it’s on a boat in the ocean.

We were pleasantly surprised to find it’s actually pretty good, though we don’t think we’d want to visit Yona in bad weather, the motion might not be all that fun.

However, it is an expensive day out thanks to the location, and unlike most beach clubs in Phuket, you only get half a day on a bed unless you want to pay twice as much.

16. Barra Cuda

There’s something quite novel about a pool that is also a dance floor, and no, we don’t mean that a cover comes over it; we mean it’s a pool so shallow that you can dance in it.

And given that the music and entertainment at Barra Cuda is among the best that we’ve seen in Phuket, that adds a little extra oomph for the night.

It only places this low in our rankings because of careless inattention to detail, something that we have no doubt will be improved upon by the time we come back to review this place again.

17. Xana Phuket

Xana is a beach club that is past its prime, and obviously so. That’s not the end of the world, but once you glance at Xana’s prices, you will soon find you can get much better value for money elsewhere.

This place looks OK at night, but during the day, there’s a certain shabbiness to the venue that just doesn’t make you want to shoot pictures for your Instagram feed.

One big positive about this beach club, though, is its approach to sustainability, which is among the best in Thailand. They do care about the environment.

18. Flamingo Beach Club

Trying to cash in on the whole Digital Nomad trend hasn’t been a big winner for the few beach clubs that have tried it, and we felt that Flamingo was struggling with it, too.

An on-site coworking space necessarily makes everything feel more muted and subdued than it ought to at a beach club where you’re meant to be having fun.

That, combined with the lack of a swimming pool, left our team wanting a bit more from the facility. Having said that, the food (if it’s in stock) is tasty enough.

19. Nui Beach Club

We actually really enjoyed our day at Nui Beach Club, and we should note that no beach club on this list is “bad”, they just have different rankings.

The struggle at Nui Beach is the nightmare ATV ride down the cliff that you have to take to reach the private beach, combined with the fact that the beach’s ownership is somewhat controversial.

Get over that, though, and what you have is a private, secluded beach club with old-school beach bar appeal, and you can’t ask for much more than that.

20. White Rabbit Beach Club

Somebody has to come last in any ranking list, and in this case, it’s White Rabbit Beach Club. Our biggest issue with this place was the hygiene standard; we really felt that they weren’t up to the grade, a bar that no other beach club in Phuket missed.

We also felt that it underperformed its competitors in service, food and drinks and more, and while you can definitely have a good time at White Rabbit, we felt that you couldn’t guarantee having a good time.

The good news is that it wouldn’t take a lot of work from the management team to significantly improve this place if they wanted to.

FAQs

Does Phuket Have Beach Clubs?

Yes! As you can see above, there are many beach clubs in Phuket, and there’s certainly something on the island for everyone.

Just make sure to choose a beach club that suits your vibe, and you should have a nice day out.

Is The Dream Beach Club Phuket Closed?

Yes, at this moment in time, Dream Beach Club, Phuket, has been closed down, and there is no indication of when or if it will open again. The beach club’s management did say it would be temporarily closed originally, but it’s been quite some time since it closed, with no news.

What Is The Dress Code For The Beach Club Phuket?

Each beach club has its own dress code, and there is no “uniform” requirement, but generally speaking, smart casual attire is always going to be fine, and, of course, if you’re spending a day by the pool, swimming clothes are a must.

We should note that many beach clubs require you to wear real swimming clothes and not shorts and t-shirts in their pools. This is because other fabrics can damage the filtration system on the pool.

Where Is The Floating Beach Club In Phuket?

The floating beach club in Phuket is Yona Beach Club. You can find a link to our full review of this beach club above, and you will be able to find out if it’s the kind of place that you want to visit on your holiday.

Are Beach Clubs In Phuket Family-Friendly?

Some beach clubs in Phuket are very family-friendly, others are adults-only. We’d strongly recommend that you read the website of the club that you want to go to, and if you’re in any doubt, you contact the beach club before you head out the door with your kids.

Adults-only beach clubs normally have no leeway in the door policy, and you won’t be able to get in if you have children with you.

Is Patong Beach A Party Beach?

While there is no such thing as a “party beach” as defined by an official body, there’s no doubt that Patong Beach has some of the best nightlife in Phuket.

During the day, the beach sees plenty of sunseekers, but by night, there’s a near total transformation as locals and visitors alike don their glad rags and head out to dance the night away.

There are plenty of entertainment options in this area that will suit nearly any budget.

Is Phuket Good For Clubbing?

Yes, Phuket is considered by many to be the nightlife capital of Thailand, only rivalled by Bangkok.

You can find everything from nightclubs to beach clubs, and there are parties in town nearly every night of the week.

Where Are The Best Beach Clubs In The World?

There’s a lot of competition for that title and many great beach clubs around the planet, but we think at the moment, it’s Bali.

Bali offers the best value for money overall out of any major beach club destination, and in FINNS Beach Club, they have what we consider to be the world’s best beach club.

Final Thoughts On The Best Beach Clubs In Phuket

Phuket is Thailand’s premier beach club destination. While there are beach clubs elsewhere in the country, the highest concentration of beach clubs is on this island.

We were impressed with the evolution of the Thai scene, and while we do feel it’s a bit on the expensive side for Southeast Asia, it has a lot to offer visitors.

If we could offer one general piece of constructive criticism, it would be nice if the clubs here could try to find some other form of entertainment rather than just (as nearly all of them do) a fire show.
