We thought we’d heard it all when it comes to beach clubs until someone told us that in Phuket, Thailand, there was a beach club inspired by Lewis Caroll’s classic novel, Alice in Wonderland.
And as our review team has always fancied a day at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, it seemed churlish of them not to rush out the door as fast as possible and visit White Rabbit Beach Club.
The booking process, sadly, did not involve consuming a bottle of unknown fluid marked “Drink Me”, but this didn’t deter them from pressing ahead with their day out, and this is what they discovered at White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket.
Introduction – Getting To White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket
The first thing you have to do if you want to visit White Rabbit is get to Phuket. There is an international airport in town, but depending on the season, you may or may not get a direct flight on your day of choosing particularly from Europe or other parts of the world other than Southeast Asia.
Don’t worry, though, you can always bounce in Bangkok, and Phuket is less than an hour’s connecting flight away.
White Rabbit is quite isolated despite its proximity to town, and there are no neighbours on its stretch of beach.
However, it won’t take more than an hour by taxi or tuk-tuk to get there, even in heavy traffic from the rest of the area, most days.
And we recommend you do take a ride-share or tuk-tuk, as you will find that in keeping with most beach clubs in Phuket, there’s very little in the way of convenient parking near this beach club.

Our Detailed Review Of White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket
We apply a consistent method for reviewing each beach club to promote fair assessment of owners, management, and staff, and to provide reviews in a uniform structure that simplifies comparing different locations.
The review procedure is outlined as follows:
- A review team is selected to evaluate the venue.
- All members are required to visit the beach club, though they may do so separately and on varying days.
- At the venue, each reviewer fills out a scorecard, assigning the club a score from 1 (lowest rating) to 5 (highest rating) across designated categories, while also noting their impressions.
- Once all scorecards are completed, the team meets to review their findings and agree on final category scores.
- A designated team member then writes the review, reflecting the group’s consensus and scores, before it is posted on our website.
Reservation and Booking Process
There’s something utterly embarrassing about a business not having a website in 2025. This is a decent-sized beach club, and yet, they can’t be bothered to invest in a proper online presence.
This, of course, means that you can’t just make a booking at White Rabbit because there is no means of contacting the business.
We find this very frustrating for a business that’s off the beaten path because we don’t like having to gamble on getting a seat, and, of course, the only way to guarantee a seat is to turn up at noon when the club opens.
It’s just not good enough. It’s so cheap to build a website and booking service now that it’s an inexcusable omission.
Ambience and Atmosphere
There’s no doubt that this beach club is in a beautiful location, but it lacks a certain something in terms of atmosphere.
One immediate problem is that they’ve made the bizarre decision to try and cater to coach parties of travellers from a single destination.
This can make it a very uncomfortable place to be for groups of ladies, in particular, and it’s hard to offset this with the days that no such large groups descend on the place.
When you can’t book in advance, you can’t have any idea of what the crowd will be like on any given day.
Location And Accessibility
It’s not inaccessible, given that Phuket’s not a particularly big place, but there’s no doubt that White Rabbit is less easy to get to than many other beach clubs, which sit on more popular and larger beaches.
This is definitely not the sort of beach club that offers any kind of disabled access, and if you’re in a wheelchair, we’d strongly recommend going elsewhere. Though, sadly, this is typical throughout the region.
We would also note that this beach club sometimes has an entrance fee and other times it does not. They say they make this clear on their Instagram account, but we don’t think they make it clear enough.
Aesthetic And Design
If you arrive at White Rabbit Beach Club at night, you will be blown away by how attractive the location looks at first glance.
Unfortunately, if you arrive during daylight hours without the forgiving darkness around you, you’ll find a club that’s quite shabbily kept, and we agree with many other guests that it feels to some extent “dirty”.
This is very surprising because Southeast Asia usually has some of the highest standards for maintenance and cleanliness around.

Staff Friendliness and Professionalism (Service Standard)
In the Land of Smiles, Thailand, we expect a lot of friendliness, but while the staff weren’t actively hostile, they weren’t particularly friendly either
We didn’t find them unprofessional per se, but we did find they were quick to brush off enquiries and seemed to look to do the bare minimum to keep customers happy rather than to exert themselves to deliver impeccable service.
Given that Phuket has a lot of beach clubs to choose from, the management team here should be addressing this immediately; there’s no excuse for average service.
Service Speed and Efficiency
The majority of our orders were taken and then served acceptably quickly. Nobody in White Rabbit seems like they’re in a rush to provide you with what you want, but at the same time, they don’t seem like they don’t care at all, either.
However, for one of our team they found themselves waiting for over an hour for a pizza, and when we did some research online while writing this review, we found this is quite a common problem at White Rabbit.
Obviously, the good news is that things are being made on the premises, but we don’t want to grow old while the chef makes a dish, either.
Food Quality and Variety
The menu at White Rabbit is decent. It’s not the most varied menu that we’ve ever seen, but that ought to lead to better food overall, as it means the kitchen staff aren’t dealing with too many dishes.
Unfortunately, while most items were tasty enough and everything was clearly made fresh, in addition to the long wait for a pizza, when it arrived, it wasn’t very good.
It’s also all quite overpriced for what it is. While Thailand’s beach clubs aren’t the cheapest places, they tend to offer better value than we found at this beach club.
Beverage Selection and Creativity
The beverage selection at White Rabbit is OK. It’s not the widest choice, but it’s also not so small that you’re going to be left frustrated on any individual visit.
However, it’s not a particularly creative cocktail list, and it is quite expensive. Worse, we felt that the presentation of many drinks was also decidedly ordinary.
One thing that many of our team look forward to when trying out a beach club is posting shots of the food and drink on their Instagram feed, and not everything we ordered at White Rabbit was ‘Gram worthy.
Cleanliness and Hygiene
While the pool area seems clean enough and the beach is kept acceptably tidy, there are large swathes of this beach club that seem to be downright dirty.
This is a major concern, and while none of us seems to have got food poisoning or any other unpleasant condition as a result of an afternoon at White Rabbit, hygiene is our number one reason that we don’t think we’d want to go back to this place.
It’s one of the strengths of most places in this part of Asia; cleanliness is usually a first-order priority, and it’s a real shame to be let down on this front.
Comfort of Seating and Lounging Areas
The seating was a bit of a highlight, and we felt that it was well arranged and of a decent standard (even if it could have used a bit more maintenance).
It offers a nice view over the ocean, and there’s no doubt that White Rabbit has a spectacular ocean vista to enjoy.
It’s also some of the most comfortable furniture that we’ve tried in Thailand, not the absolute best, but definitely better than average.
Music and Entertainment
They pipe in the music at times, and there are live DJs on at others. They also hold semi-regular events with non-stop live DJs. It’s worth noting that their events are chargeable, and it may not be clear that this is the case from their scant social media presence.
That’s a bit annoying, given that the club is usually free-entry, but then it can shoot up to 1,000 Baht or so when there’s an event. This isn’t a big deal if you like what they’re playing, but it could ruin your day out if you find yourself being forced to pay to listen to endless trance all day long if it’s not your cup of tea.
Overall, we felt that the music at White Rabbit was good enough, but not so good that we were talking about it even a day later.
Seasonality
Officially, because it’s a tropical destination, Phuket doesn’t suffer from seasonality. However, the rainy season in Phuket can be a real beast.
If you go to Bali in the rainy season, it rains for maybe an hour or two during the day; in Phuket, it can rain for days or weeks on end with barely a pause in the torrent.
That means that while this beach club doesn’t change its opening hours or reduce its facilities in the wet season, you might still want to opt for a different part of the world at this time of year.
Pricing and Value for Money
The Phuket beach club market is one of the most competitive in Asia, coming second only to Bali for its variety and volume of beach clubs.
Within that market, White Rabbit is on the pricey side, and this isn’t matched by an upgrade in facilities, food, drinks, and entertainment. So, while it’s not the worst value for money that we’ve encountered, we can’t mark it down as much more than average either.
We think that most people who visit White Rabbit will have a reasonably fun day out, but that they won’t be talking about it in the years to come or be in any rush to go back and do it all again.

Beach Access and Quality
There is no real beach to speak of at White Rabbit Beach Club, a strip of grubby sand that most people ignore in favour of the pleasant pool area at the centre of the club.
While what little sand there is is kept clean and generally free of obstructions, you’re not going to want to spend much time there.
We’d also note that you probably don’t want to go swimming in the ocean here, as the water tends to be highly polluted and there is also the potential for dangerous riptides, which can drag even strong swimmers out to sea. Stick to the pool.
Sustainability Practices
Describing your venue as “eco-friendly” doesn’t actually mean very much without details to back it up, and White Rabbit publishes precisely nothing with respect to its eco-friendly practices.
So, we have to assume that this is a coating of greenwashing and that there’s nothing for this club to talk about.
We’re not overly surprised by this; we figure a beach club that can’t even invest in a website is probably not spending very much money on being kind to the planet.
Exclusive Perks for Guests
They will provide you with a towel and a daybed at White Rabbit, which is pretty much essential given that you will be swimming in their pool.
However, there’s no effort to go the extra mile and create more VIP or bespoke packages of inclusions for a little extra cash.
As always, we feel this is a big missed opportunity for beach clubs, while you won’t necessarily sell these packages to every visitor, plenty of people on holiday want to treat themselves and giving them the option to do so seems commercially sensible.
Safety and Security
There’s no doubt that safety matters in the beach club scene and while no club can ensure that you’re going to be 100% safe all of the time, taking precautions is important.
So, we’re pleased to report that this beach club does carry out a basic bag check, which ought to head off the biggest potential problems before they arise.
They also have enough security on the ground to deal with any outbreaks of alcohol related trouble in the venue.
Event Hosting Capabilities
They do offer private event hosting at this beach club, but as you can imagine, without a website, communicating this offering and providing some indication of pricing, etc., means going through a long, drawn-out contact process with the venue.
We think that this discourages customers from making the effort in the first place. In fact, we’d like to see more transparency in this space across the industry.
While you don’t have to quote an exact price online, we’d like a ballpark figure or range or at least some examples of events that you’ve hosted successfully in the past.
Consistency of Experience
Unfortunately, there appear to be two different White Rabbit Beach Clubs, and which one you get is a bit random.
The first is an example of a truly acceptable beach club. It doesn’t push the boat out, and it’s unlikely to wow you by breaking new ground, but it’s a good day out.
The other is poor value for money, lacks cleanliness, has an off-colour vibe, poor service and more.
This was borne out not just by our team’s experiences at this beach club but also by other online reviews from their customers.
Additional Amenities and Facilities
The White Rabbit Beach Club has pretty much all you need for a day by the sea on hand and because you’re in Phuket, there’s no doubt that you can find anything else you need within a short driving distance of the front door.
Because this beach club is in a fairly remote location, there’s not as much within walking distance as there is at other Phuket beach clubs.

Summary
Well, they may have themed this club on Alice in Wonderland, but much of the time it comes across as Alice in Shabbyland instead.
We really wanted to like White Rabbit, and there are moments when everything comes together, when you get a decent vibe going and even grab some great Instagram photos.
But you can’t rely on having that experience, and when things go off track at White Rabbit, they really go off track.
The biggest concern here, though, is the hygiene factor. We expect beach clubs to nail this even if they don’t get anything else right, and White Rabbit has a long way to go in this respect.
FAQs
Can You Go Swimming At White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket?
Yes. You can swim at White Rabbit Beach Club as they have an on-site pool, which is the focal point of the beach club.
However, there’s no doubt that this is quite a small pool, and you may struggle to do lengths in this pool later on in the day when there are many guests on site.
You shouldn’t even think about swimming in the sea here; the water is polluted, and the riptides make it unsafe even for strong swimmers.
What Is There To Do At White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket?
You can swim, eat and drink during the majority of the day as well as chill out on the furniture. The beach is very limited, and you’re not likely to get much use out of it.
Also, in the evenings, they tend to have a DJ so you can dance.
Is White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket, A Child-Friendly Venue?
Not really, as far as we can tell, they don’t have any specific policies banning kids, but this is very much an adult-oriented beach club, and we can’t imagine taking younger children here under any circumstances.
If you want something family-friendly in Phuket, Catch Beach Club is a better option. That beach club is keen to welcome families during the day.
Who Is The Owner Of White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket?
The ownership of the White Rabbit Beach Club is not in the public domain, though it seems likely that it is a local-international partnership.
Final Thoughts On The Review Of White Rabbit Beach Club, Phuket
Well, we went down the rabbit hole and all the way through the looking glass and found this beach club to be a bit lacking for Phuket.
It’s certainly not a terrible experience, but it’s not somewhere that we’d rush back to or recommend to friends unless they’d exhausted many of the better options in this area first.
Overall, it has the potential to be much better, but they really need to attend to the hygiene of the place before putting any effort in elsewhere.
