The area isn’t always the nicest place to walk around, particularly at night, but Mia rises above the background noise and has a great reputation for a place to party.
So, our team wanted to see if the reputation matched the reality, and they went to visit Mia Beach Club and Restaurant, and this is what they learned there.

We always follow the same standard method when reviewing every beach club. This ensures we judge the owners, managers, and staff fairly and produce reviews in a consistent format that makes it easy to compare different venues.

- Each team member visits the club, usually on their own and on different days.

Reservation and Booking Process
We find the whole process of reserving seats at Tulum’s beach clubs annoying and infuriating. It’s 2026, and if you click the “book now” button on the club’s homepage? It takes you to booking their hotel rooms instead.
Visit their Google profile, and you get offered a Google Calendar to book through, or you can use the WhatsApp button on the site.
We really cannot fathom why a club this popular and profitable can’t manage to install a proper booking system where we can choose our seat, discover the entrance fee and/or minimum spend, and then pay for a booking. It’s a terrible first impression and something that’s so easy to fix.
Our team did eventually get reservations, but no points to the beach club for their process at all.
Ambience and Atmosphere
Mia tries to be two things at once, and mainly, it succeeds. In the day, they’re all about chill vibes and relaxing by the pool, but the pace picks up as they head towards sunset and in the evenings, this is a musical extravaganza for people who love live EDM.
And yet, somehow, throughout both streams of experience, they manage to make the place feel intimate, even romantic and still social and fun. Very occasionally, all these themes clash a little awkwardly, but mostly, it works, and that’s a good thing.
Location And Accessibility
Tulum is relatively accessible from within the Americas, though journeys may be long and require changes (the local airport only sees 1.2 million arrivals a year), but it’s a more arduous prospect from Africa, Australia, Asia and Europe.
Once you arrive, this beach club (and the associated resort) is on the main hotel strip along the beach, which is quite a way out of town, so you will need transportation to get to and from the club.
Aesthetic And Design
As with most clubs in Tulum, they’ve built Mia Tulum to blend in with the local beach and jungle, and they have done a good job of it.
Unfortunately, while this is nice and aesthetically pleasing, it does very little to distinguish the different beach clubs from each other. They all look good, but rarely manage to achieve any real visual identity of their own.
Staff Friendliness and Professionalism (Service Standard)
We were very impressed with the staff at Mia Beach Club; they are a cut above the average in Tulum, and they are attentive and friendly.
We found them to be quite knowledgeable about the menu and the local area, and they seemed to be very interested in ensuring that we had a great time. We’d say that Mia Beach Club can be proud of their servers.
Service Speed and Efficiency
Except at the very busiest times of night, the service is very fast and efficient, and we didn’t even have to wait too long for our check to come at the end.
Overall, we can’t even blame them for a bit of a slowdown when it gets busy; they have a good staff ratio, but there are just so many guests.
Food Quality and Variety
We found the food to be a bit of a mixed bag at Mia Beach Club. While we really enjoyed the dishes made with the catch of the day and their ceviche, we were less impressed with the very generic international offerings, and they weren’t great quality, particularly given the inflated Tulum beach club prices.
There’s nothing on the menu that will ruin your day, but we doubt you’d come back to Mia Beach Club just because you were hungry, either.
Beverage Selection and Creativity
Overall, we felt that the beverages were good and their signature cocktails were definitely the highlight of things, with excellent presentation.
However, there’s not much creativity in sight, and they haven’t gone out of their way to create interesting cocktails, either.
We should also note they are quite expensive and that there are a few isolated reports of drink spiking in this area, so keep an eye on your drink at all times.
Cleanliness and Hygiene
Credit where it’s due, during seaweed season, the staff here battle the noxious weed with serious efforts, and it never builds up and starts stinking the place out.
However, the maintenance and cleanliness within the club and other parts of the resort is only OK, with the occasional glaring issue that ought to have been resolved previously.
Comfort of Seating and Lounging Areas
The daybeds are among the best in Tulum, and we found them to be clean and comfortable with big cushions that really provide the support we want for a day’s lounging by the pool.
There are umbrellas offering shade in all parts of the venue too. If you have a big group, the private cabanas look amazing.
Just be aware that there is a minimum spend system in place to secure your seats.
Music and Entertainment
The Mia Beach Club offers the best music and entertainment of the beach clubs we tried in Tulum. While it’s not quite in FINNS Beach Club’s league over in Bali, it’s still excellent.
They have some world-class acts on the turntables and the occasional big show which will rock your world if you witness it.
Seasonality
Tulum is in the tropics, which often means that you’re going to have hot and sunny weather all year round. But Tulum has two minor seasons that you may want to avoid.
The first is a brief hurricane season where things get a bit breezy to the point of unpleasantness. The second, much longer, season is the sargassum seaweed season.
This runs February to October, and while Mia may do a good job of cleaning its beach, not all beaches are clean, and the smell can be really foul.
Pricing and Value for Money
We found Mia Beach Club to be expensive compared to Tulum as a whole but reasonably priced when compared to other beach clubs.
We also felt that despite the very average food, the overall experience was elevated and we’d got good value for money at this place.
Beach Access and Quality
The beach in Tulum, when it’s not buried under seaweed, is one of the nicest we’ve ever seen: nice, soft sand, and thanks to the beach club, this part is kept clean.
However, there’s no doubt that other nearby stretches of the beach are not as well serviced and sometimes, the seaweed stink can drift a little.
We’d also note that in common with most beach clubs, you get free access to the beach here and given the local government is charging for beach access elsewhere, that’s a good deal.
Sustainability Practices
Tulum is very much about sustainability, and while Mia Beach Club doesn’t quite lead the pack in eco-friendly terms, it’s not far behind, either.
They use bioclimatic architecture to create comfort from natural features such as palm fronds, local wood and sand. They are also all in on farm-to-table dining practices.
Exclusive Perks for Guests
Your minimum spend gets you a daybed, a towel and access to other hotel amenities (though some of these, such as massages, are chargeable).
This is about standard for Tulum and much of the world’s beach club scene but we think there’s room for beach clubs to create better experiences and to charge for them.
Safety and Security
This is Tulum, and that means the beach club has CCTV and regular security on duty all of the time. Unfortunately, there are still reports of petty theft throughout the resort and beach club.
We would also note that the area around Mia Beach Club is not conducive to late-night strolls and is considered to be unsafe. Make sure you have transportation before you leave the club.
Event Hosting Capabilities
They say they can hold events at this beach club, but they don’t seem to have a dedicated events team, and there’s not much effort put into promoting or selling this facility on their website, which exhorts you to drop them a WhatsApp message.
We’d probably hold a birthday party here, but we’d be cautious about giving them trust with anything more important. It just doesn’t feel like a focus of their business.
Consistency of Experience
We felt that Mia Beach Club was very consistent with the experience that it provides, and we spoke to other guests and pored over some online reviews to ensure that this was the case.
Our only complaint was that there don’t seem to be any efforts to take the experience to the next level and create something truly unforgettable.
Additional Amenities and Facilities
You can use the free parking and other hotel amenities as you like (assuming they are available) when you attend the beach club.
But if they don’t have something you need, you may have to take a long drive into town to find it.
Summary
Mia Beach Club is a good time, and with just a little effort it could become a legendary time. We don’t think we’d bring a family here, but we’d certainly return with a group of friends for a good-natured party time.
We think they walk a delicate line at times trying to be all things to all men, but that they mostly succeed at this, which is awesome.
