Savaya Bali is one of Bali’s best-known beach clubs. It’s also one of the most expensive beach clubs on the island. Yes, even for the upmarket and expensive Ungasan area, Savaya stands out for the huge premium you pay for everything here.
So, our review team wanted to know if this was value for money? Is a large entrance fee, a substantial minimum spend and expensive food and drink justified by the experience you get at Savaya Bali?
We had no hesitation in sending the team down to Ungasan on the Bukit Peninsula to investigate further, and this is what our team felt about Savaya, Bali.
Introduction – Getting To Savaya Bali
For many beach clubs in Bali, the biggest challenge is getting to Bali itself (a short flight from Southeast Asia and Australia, normally, but rather longer from Europe, the US, etc.).
Though we always take pains to point out, you can save the cost of the flight on what you’d spend in Tulum or Mykonos, as Bali is much cheaper than most beach club destinations.
However, Savaya is in Ungasan, which is the Southernmost part of the Bukit Peninsula, and it’s a bit of a pain to get to unless you’re staying in Ungasan.
The traffic in Bali can be a bit overwhelming at times, and getting to Ungasan can take 2 hours or more from the most popular tourist towns.
There is car parking near the club and because it’s a clifftop club, you don’t need to pay for a ride to and from the club as you do with most of the other beach clubs in this area.
Where Is Savaya Bali? Jl. Belimbing Sari, Banjar Tambiyak, Pecatu, Uluwatu, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80364, Indonesia
Online: Savaya Bali
Opening Hours: Savaya Bali is open daily with the exception of Nyepi. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, it’s open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, it’s open from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m., and on Saturdays, it’s open from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. Yes, really.
What’s Available At Savaya Bali?
Savaya’s main focus is as a nightclub, and there’s a big dancefloor area, some seating areas, bar and restaurant services, a pair of small pools and a cliff-edge view over the ocean.
This is very much a party-intensive venue, and it is an adults-only beach club, so please don’t take your kids here; they won’t be allowed in.

Our Detailed Review Of Savaya Bali
We maintain a consistent approach to assessing every beach club, ensuring fair evaluation for owners, management, and staff, and providing reviews in a standardised format that simplifies venue comparisons.
The assessment procedure is detailed as follows:
A team is appointed to review the venue.
- Each member must visit the beach club, with the freedom to visit independently and on different days.
- During their visit, every reviewer fills out a scorecard, scoring the club from 1 (least distinguished) to 5 (most distinguished) in designated categories, while also recording their experiences.
- After all team members have completed their scorecards, they meet to discuss their observations and agree on final scores for each category.
- A designated team member then drafts the review, reflecting the team’s discussions and final scores, before it is published on our website.
Reservation and Booking Process
Perhaps, our number one complaint about beach clubs in Bali is the dire state of booking systems. It’s not hard to implement a good booking system, but sadly, Savaya remains among the many that haven’t bothered to do so.
If you want to book an event ticket for one of the events here, it’s super easy, and the details of what you will pay and what you will get are set out clearly.
This is completely not the case when you try and book a day in the beach club, you have to fill in a form with some vague details, and then wait for the club to come back to you.
No seat selection, no deposit paid, just a long wait… It’s inexcusable to be using a contact page in 2025 rather than a proper booking system.

Ambience and Atmosphere
If there’s a place that’s all hot or cold but with no in between, it’s Savaya. Some days, you turn up and it’s like a tomb inside with almost nobody around.
Then you get there another day and it’s jam-packed wall-to-wall without the space to swing a cat.
And as you might expect, both have their frustrations and their advantages. There has to be a way for this club to achieve a happy medium and get to a more comfortable state for everyone.
The nightclub events suffer from the same problem; it’s all or nothing at Savaya.
Location And Accessibility
It’s a clifftop, so there’s no beach to be had. It’s Ungasan, so it’s expensive and worse, it takes forever to drive to this location.
Even if you arrive in a ride-share, you’re going to have to walk to the front door from the car park and so on.
The odd thing is that this is an attractive part of Bali, but almost everything about it is hard work, and there are a lot of other options for beach clubs that won’t require so much effort on your part.

Aesthetic And Design
They do a great job of making Savaya look amazing in the marketing materials, but in real life, it doesn’t quite measure up.
It’s not unattractive, and we did get some nice Instagram pics, but it’s also not the height of design brilliance and a lot of the fittings, etc., look a little tired when you get up close to them.
We do like the clifftop viewing platform, though, which is a nice touch and something a little different for a beach club in Bali.
Staff Friendliness and Professionalism (Service Standard)
If we have to single out one genuinely excellent aspect of a day at Savaya, it’s the friendly and professional service.
The staff here are absolutely lovely and they’re a credit to their employer. We imagine that they have to be given our other niggles with this place, though, they will be dealing with a ton of complaints.
Which we assume they do with the same grace and care as they give every other interaction.
But we also have to note that some reviews from customers suggest that things have got out of control between staff and customers at times. Including an incident of bar staff laughing at customers who wanted service.

Service Speed and Efficiency
The service at Savaya suffers when it’s super busy inside, which it sometimes is. But otherwise, it’s speedy and efficient enough most of the time.
You certainly won’t wait too long for a bill in this place, which kind of emphasises the club’s commitment to making you poorer.
But overall, we certainly can’t complain about this.
Food Quality and Variety
The food is expensive, which would be fine if it weren’t so bad. But when you’re charging 175,000++ for fish and chips, it needs to be amazing, and it’s just not.
The pizza was an abomination with what looked like cheap processed ham as a topping, and there’s absolutely no reasonable excuse for this lack of care in the end product.
You certainly won’t want to take pictures of this to put it on your Instagram feed unless you want to be sarcastic about this place.
We should also note that they only let you access the full food menu if you have a table; otherwise, you’re pretty much stuck with hot dogs.

Beverage Selection and Creativity
There’s a reasonable number of drinks to choose from, and while the prices are once again too high, we could have lived with that.
But the drinks are seriously understrength; it’s like they use parts of a measure in their cocktails. You could probably drink them like water all day long and not feel any kick.
They do look better than the food does in your Instagram shots, though, so that’s something.
Cleanliness and Hygiene
We didn’t find any issues with the cleanliness of this beach club, and the pool area was surprisingly well kept, given the size of it and the number of people who use it each day.
The toilets were also kept clean and pleasant, as were the showers and changing facilities.
Overall, this made us feel moderately better about having eaten the food in Savaya.

Comfort of Seating and Lounging Areas
The seats are attractive and they do look nice in Instagram photos, but we can’t help but note that they are only middling comfortable.
We think this is probably because, as a nightclub venue, many people arrive late in the day and only sit down for a few minutes around bursts of action on the dance floor.
However, if you’re in for the long haul from open to close, you may want to change your seating up a bit at points during the day.
The minimum spend for these seats, however, is utterly insane. They do not represent value for money.
Music and Entertainment
There’s no entertainment of any kind during the day at this beach club, and we find that really odd. Surely, if you want to convince people to stick around to party at night, you’d want to build up to that?
Well, they don’t. But once the DJs do arrive and get started, things will heat up a bit if they’ve sold enough tickets and then the party’s on.
(You should also know that local promoters will give away all the tickets for free if they don’t sell them in advance, so if you’re staying in the area, this can save you a small fortune on visiting Savaya.)
It’s a good spot for dancing and drinking when this happens, but it’s often uncomfortably crowded, which makes life a bit harder than it needs to be.

Seasonality
Bali is in the tropics, and this little island in the Indian Ocean has no real seasonality to speak of. There are two seasons, a “wet season” and a “dry season”, but they are both hot and sunny.
Don’t expect monsoons in the rainy season; it’s normally an hour or two of rain every other day. Then, there’s more sunshine and warmth.
So, there are no shutdown periods in Bali, and the only real day off for most beach clubs on the island is Nyepi, which is the only mandatory holiday in Indonesia. It lasts for only a single day in either March or April each year.
Pricing and Value for Money
Savaya is not the world’s most expensive beach club, but it’s one of Bali’s most expensive and frankly, it doesn’t justify the prices.
While there are good times to be had here, as there are at almost every beach club, the food is poor, the cocktails are weak, and it’s hard to get to.
The experience of being there is also very hit and miss; one day it’s hopping, the next day it’s snoozing.

Beach Access and Quality
There is a lovely beach below Savaya, but given this club is on a clifftop, you can’t get to it and you can’t experience it.
If you arrive early in the day, you might want to go and check out the beach before returning to the clifftop and visiting Savaya.
Sustainability Practices
Savaya has made some public commitments to sustainability, but in practice, there’s no detailed account of those commitments on its website.
It also doesn’t publish any kind of sustainability reporting, which means it’s impossible to check how they are progressing against any of their goals.
So, we feel they’ve made a start in this area, but that they have a long way to go to deliver serious results.

Exclusive Perks for Guests
If you agree to the very heavy minimum spend requirement at Savaya, you will get a free towel and the use of a daybed. That’s it, mind you, and frankly, given the charges, we feel they ought to do more.
There are also no other tier options for better inclusions and service, which is a missed opportunity, as people do like to treat themselves while they’re on holiday.
Safety and Security
The security team at this beach club do a proper bag search, which we’re very much in favour of, but they are also extremely rigorous in enforcing the club’s list of things you can’t bring in.
And instead of letting guests leave things at the reception, they force them to throw that stuff out, which seems very unfair given the remote location of this club.
There are enough security staff on hand in the venue to resolve any issues that might arise from alcohol consumption, though we do wonder if they can respond easily when the place is really packed out.
Several customers have also complained about the aggressive attitude of security staff in Savaya and there was an incident in which the security staff actually punched a female guest!

Event Hosting Capabilities
They obviously thought about hosting events at this beach club, but given that Savaya’s web team filled the events page with Lorem Ipsum (the placeholder text) and it’s never been changed, we have to assume they didn’t think too hard about it before giving up.
We don’t think there are many events that would work here anyway, it’s too far away and too expensive for most occasions.
Consistency of Experience
As we’ve said throughout, you can get packed, heaving Savaya or empty Savaya and there’s no real state in between.
That means the experience at this beach club is very inconsistent. We’d also note that there’s no real evidence of management responding to customer feedback in a positive way and trying to improve the experience of being at this beach club.

Additional Amenities and Facilities
They have all the basic amenities that you could ask for in a beach club, except for beach access, but if you need anything else, it might be a long drive into Uluwatu or Nusa Dua before you can obtain it.
Summary
Savaya is a beach club that we want to like, but we just can’t. It’s massively overrated, the food and drinks are bad, and everything is hugely overpriced.
The events can be amazing, but they can also be empty and terrible value for money. The staff are helpful and kind, but they must have to spend most of their time apologising for the quality of the experience.
If you are in the Ungasan area, you might want to check it out just to say that you’ve been, but we can’t fathom why anyone would want to travel across Bali for a frustrating day out at Savaya. There are so many better beach clubs to choose from on the island.
FAQs
Can You Go Swimming At Savaya Bali?
There is a pair of swimming pools at Savaya, but it’s important to know that they are not very big, and that means when the venue gets busy, they tend to be full of drinkers, and that means you are unlikely to be able to get any lengths in.
We wouldn’t visit this beach club to enjoy a swim; it’s better to spend some time swimming at your hotel before you head to Savaya, then just cool off in the pool as you need to.
There is also no beach access at Savaya; this beach club is on the clifftop, which means you’re not able to pop down to the sand for a swim in the ocean.
We also wouldn’t advise swimming in this area, as in common with many other places in Bali, the currents can be very strong and drag even strong swimmers out to sea.
Yes, we agree that there’s something frustrating about a beach club without swimming facilities, but this is more of a dance club with some beach club-like facilities than a full-blown beach club.

What Is There To Do At Savaya Bali?
There are pools you can use to cool off and occasionally swim in. They offer food and drinks all day long, and there are daybeds where you can relax during the day.
However, Savaya is best known for its nightclub appeal, and there’s a dancefloor and a wide range of artists that man the decks at night and on weekends.
It’s important to note that the artist very much influences the costs of visiting Savaya, and the entrance fees can be very high if you want to see an international artist here.
Is Savaya Bali A Child-Friendly Venue?
No, Savaya Bali is not a child-friendly place. In fact, it’s a venue that has a very strict over-21s only policy, which is enforced (to some extent) at the door.
Children are completely banned from Savaya, at least in theory. They don’t actually check IDs at this venue (which is in keeping with pretty much all venues in Bali), they just turn people away if they look too young.
Savaya is not the only adults-only beach club in Bali; FINNS, the world’s best beach club in Canggu, is also adults-only, for example.
Who Is The Owner Of Savaya Bali?
Savaya Bali is owned by Alex Cordova. Alex is a businessman who owns and manages this beach club as well as other entertainment properties on the island.
Final Thoughts On The Review Of Savaya Bali
There’s no doubt that the Ungasan area tends to deliver expensive beach clubs when compared to other areas of Bali.
However, Savaya is, by far, the club that seems to want to empty your bank account in a single visit. It’s a very expensive place, and we don’t feel that their current service lives up to the price tag that they put on it.
There’s no doubt that most people visit this club because they think they’re making a statement, but that statement is really “I have more money than sense.”
Their events are either packed out and uncomfortable, or they go the other way, and they’re empty and there’s no vibe. Overall, we feel that there are many better beach clubs in Bali than this one.
