We love spending time in the Land of Smiles, Thailand, so it’s not ever going to be a huge ask for our team to visit a beach club there.
Pattaya is a city in transition at the moment, and beach clubs may be one of the ways they can realign their businesses to a more internationally appealing form rather than just focusing on Chinese customers (who, for the moment, are not coming to Pattaya for various reasons).
So, our reviewers put on their favourite shorts, bikinis and shoes and headed out to Kliff Beach Club to see if the future of Pattaya was safe in this beach club’s hands.
Introduction – Getting To Kliff Beach Club
Getting to Pattaya is always going to be a little bit of a hassle. There’s a long flight to Bangkok from most Western destinations, and then, you will either need to catch a connecting flight or jump in a cab for a fairly long ride to the beach resort.
However, once you’re in Pattaya, Kliff Beach Club is very conveniently located on the Western tip of the area, and that means you’re in for some wonderful sunset views.
There is parking available at the beach club, and you can easily get a ride-share, taxi or tuk-tuk right to the front door.

What’s Available At Kliff Beach Club?
Kliff Beach Club has nice seating areas of various styles, restaurant and bar facilities, as well as direct beach access. There is no pool at Kliff Beach Club, though.
In the evenings, it sometimes has live DJs and other forms of musical entertainment. However, there are no fire shows or any other kind of entertainment at this beach club.
Our Detailed Review Of Kliff Beach Club
We always assess each beach club with the same approach to ensure fair treatment of owners, management, and staff, and to provide a consistent review structure that simplifies comparisons between locations.
The assessment process is outlined as follows:
- A team is selected to evaluate the venue.
- All members must visit the beach club, but they can do so independently and on different days.
- During their visit, each reviewer fills out a scorecard, rating the club from 1 (poorest) to 5 (excellent) in designated categories, while also recording notes about their experience.
- Once everyone has completed their visit and scorecard, the team meets to review their findings and decide on final category scores.
- A team member is then assigned to draft the review, reflecting the group’s discussions and including the agreed-upon scores, before posting it on our website.
Reservation and Booking Process
You can reserve a seat at Kliff Beach Club, but the booking process is completely outside of the beach club’s control.
It’s run by the famous restaurant booking service Chope.com, and while we know and trust Chope (we make reservations with it all the time), there’s something jarring about a beach club dumping you out of their website into somebody else’s to make your booking.
And all you can do on Chope is specify how many people are coming and when they are coming. You can’t pick where you want to sit or an individual seat, nor can you pay any minimum spend required of you.
So, while you can book, this booking system feels very out of date for a beach club that’s looking to be on the cutting edge of the Thai scene.

Ambience and Atmosphere
One thing we think Kliff Beach Club does really well is that it makes you feel like you’re by the sea. Many beach clubs seem to forget the beach environment that they are on and go all out to create something separate.
Here you get a fabulous view over the sand and down to the water’s edge and along the Pattaya coastline.
It’s very much a relaxed place with a laid-back vibe. We wouldn’t say that it’s overly social as environments go, though, which for us is always a shame – we like meeting new people at beach clubs.
It’s also very, very quiet here if you’re not here when there are DJs on. Which may be your thing, or it might not.
Location And Accessibility
Pattaya is no longer the ideal tourist destination in Thailand; in fact, it’s probably been a couple of decades now since the Western tourists flocked to this beach town.
However, it’s not all that far from Bangkok, and now that the Chinese coach tours no longer descend on the town, it’s a better location than it had become.
But there’s still a muted appeal to Pattaya, and its beach clubs aren’t as busy as they could be.
The location itself is very accessible from anywhere in Pattaya, and it’s well placed to catch the sunsets over the water, which is a good thing.
However, what’s not such a good thing is that if you want to go to the beach here, you will need to climb down a long (but safe) set of stairs to get down the cliff.
Aesthetic And Design
We found Kliff to be very pleasing to the eye, and it makes great use of the Pattaya shoreline to provide some amazing leading lines for your Instagram shots.
While it’s certainly not the kind of design that makes you sit up and take notice, it does complement the laid-back but upscale vibe that this restaurant offers.
Though we do feel that the publicity material could be a little more honest about the cliff down to the beach – if you have mobility issues, you’re not going to be enjoying a picnic provided by Kliff Beach Club on the sands.
Staff Friendliness and Professionalism (Service Standard)
The staff at this beach club are very friendly, and that’s what we’ve come to expect from places in the Land of Smiles. You get a warm welcome and a beaming grin.
They’re also very professional, and you feel that there’s a certain sense of pride taken in a job well done at Kliff when it comes to presentation and other small details.
However, the service was still missing a “Wow!” factor that could take the experience of being at Kliff to the next level.

Service Speed and Efficiency
Mostly, we found that the drinks and food orders were taken quickly, and then the dishes were brought from the kitchen or the glasses from the bar in reasonable order too.
However, we all found ourselves waiting for the bill at the end of the day, which is such an odd time to delay your customers.
It’s not the end of the world, but we do feel that it’s best to end your time with a customer with the best you have, because it’s that final moment that they’re going to remember the most.
Food Quality and Variety
The menu at this beach club is very varied, and there’s an emphasis on local seafood as well as a range of international fare.
We thought the presentation of the food was superb, and it really is one of the most Instagrammable places that we’ve visited in that respect.
The meals were also delicious and made of high-quality local produce. The prices, while on the high side for Thailand, are very much in line with other beach clubs, and of course, you can have the dishes served on the beach as a picnic, which is a nice touch.
Beverage Selection and Creativity
We thought that the drinks selection at Kliff Beach Club was one of the best that we’ve ever seen, a huge wine list, a decent number of beers, and cocktails, mocktails, coffees, and other non-alcoholic options galore.
The presentation of the drinks that we ordered was just lovely too. However, there’s no doubt that the price tags were on the high side for Thailand and, in particular, the wine felt overpriced.
So, go with cocktails and fill your Instagram feed with glorious shots filled with colourful hues.
Cleanliness and Hygiene
This is Thailand, and we’ve come to expect near-perfection from everywhere when it comes to cleanliness, with the single exception of cobwebs, which everyone seems very reluctant to clear away (we think this is because, as Buddhists, they’re worried about disturbing somebody important who has been reincarnated).
However, we didn’t find any cobwebs in the toilets or anywhere else in Kliff Beach Club, and overall, we thought the entire beach club was clean and hygienic throughout.
We didn’t see anything that would give us reservations about eating or drinking here.
Comfort of Seating and Lounging Areas
We didn’t find the seating to be particularly comfortable or uncomfortable. It just kind of was. It’s nicely designed and looks great in photos, but it’s missing the essence of great beach club furniture.
We suspect that’s got a lot to do with the fact that it’s not a fully-fledged beach club and it’s more of a restaurant, so most people are in and out within a couple of hours and don’t expect to be seated on anything more comfortable.

Music and Entertainment
While they do have the occasional DJ night in this restaurant, there’s no doubt that, for the most part, they have no music at all.
This place is super quiet, it’s just you, whoever you came with and the sound of the ocean.
We don’t dislike that, in fact, it’s a pleasant change, particularly if you come in the early part of the day, and it’s better than that bland beach club background music that so many clubs have settled on, but it’s not music and it’s not entertainment.
Seasonality
Thailand’s tropical but its rainy season can be particularly vicious, and it’s possible for it to rain for weeks on end without remission.
Now, there is an indoor section at this beach club, which means you don’t have to dine in a downpour, but… we’d still aim for the dry season if we were booking a holiday in Pattaya.
Otherwise, there’s no seasonal closure or shutdown, though as with most clubs in Thailand, they may operate different hours on public holidays or on voting days when instructed to by the government.
Pricing and Value for Money
We didn’t find the pricing to be out of order at this beach club, though it is on the high side for Thailand.
In fact, ignoring the expensive wine list, we thought it was reasonable value for money too, the food is delicious, the drinks are strong enough, and everything looks great.
Beach Access and Quality
It’s a long walk down the cliff to get to the beach, and worse, it’s a long walk back up again when it’s over.
The sand is kept beautifully clear by the beach club staff, though, and it’s nice and soft underfoot. The area is relatively empty too, thanks to that nice long walk.
But… there’s no swimming pool at the beach club, and you shouldn’t swim in the sea either, the water has been judged unsafe for human beings, thanks to the levels of pollution. In particular, we wouldn’t let young children in the water here.
Sustainability Practices
Sadly, this isn’t the only beach club in Pattaya to have absolutely no sustainability program, commitments or reports to offer customers looking for a more ethical beach club experience.
This is 2025, and it really is time for these beach clubs to make a bit of an effort on this front.

Exclusive Perks for Guests
You get to sit down and eat because this is more of a restaurant than a beach club, and while that’s perfectly fine, it’s not really much of a perk.
Safety and Security
There is a brief bag check on the way in the door at this beach club, which we like; it helps to keep the venue safe and secure for everyone.
And while there isn’t a huge number of security around, there appears to be more than enough to solve any minor issues that might arise at this very sleepy beach club.
Event Hosting Capabilities
Kliff Beach Club has a dedicated events team able to host private parties and events as required. They can tailor the menu to your needs and offer drinks packages as needed.
They’re also willing to modify the venue to some extent for themed events, etc.
Consistency of Experience
Our team found the experience at Kliff Beach Club to be very consistent, and other guests we spoke to and reviews that we read seemed to agree.
However, we also didn’t find any evidence of Kliff trying to up their game or reinvent themselves to be even better for tomorrow, and that’s a bit of a shame.
Additional Amenities and Facilities
With no pool, this beach club is definitely low on amenities and facilities, and while we do love a day out at a restaurant, there’s not much beyond eating and drinking to do here.
However, this is Pattaya, and you’re either a short walk or a short drive from pretty much anything else you could possibly need.

Summary
Kliff Beach Club is one of the nicest seaside restaurants in Southeast Asia, but unfortunately, it’s not really a beach club, and its final score reflects that.
The food is great, the drinks are good, and the vibe is relaxing and upscale. But there’s no entertainment, no pool, and you’re not likely to spend a whole day at this beach club.
Would we stop by if we were in Pattaya? Definitely. Would we travel very far for a meal in Kliff Beach Club? Probably not.
FAQs
Can You Go Swimming At Kliff Beach Club?
Sort of. If you bring your own towel, you’re welcome to swim in the ocean, but there is no pool at this beach club, and they do not provide towels.
But… before you pack that towel, we should warn you that the water in the ocean here has been deemed hazardous to human health by official authorities, and we can’t recommend swimming in it, even though you are allowed to.
We’d stick to eating, drinking, and maybe dancing if there’s a DJ on and do your swimming in the pool at your hotel.
What Is There To Do At Kliff Beach Club?
You can spend your time lounging in comfortable chairs, you can eat and drink from the menu, talk with your friends or maybe read a book.
However, there’s only really entertainment some evenings, when live DJs show up; otherwise, there’s no entertainment, and this beach club isn’t really a good choice for partying.
Is Kliff Beach Club A Child-Friendly Venue?
Children are certainly allowed into this beach club, though any child under the age of 8 must be accompanied at all times.
However, we’d note that this beach club offers no real facilities for children, and there’s not even a pool, which is a real shame given that the ocean here isn’t fit for swimming in.
They can play on the sand of the beach, but that’s about it. So, we wouldn’t take kids here for long unless they were very happy entertaining themselves.
Who Is The Owner Of Kliff Beach Club?
In keeping with many of the beach clubs in Pattaya, the ownership details of Kliff Beach Club are not in the public domain.
Final Thoughts On The Review Of Kliff Beach Club
Kliff Beach Club is a nice restaurant by the sea, but we don’t think it entirely lives up to the “beach club” promise; the absence of a pool is keenly felt, particularly on a beach where swimming isn’t recommended.
Having said that, we’d be more than happy to eat here if we were passing by, it’s just that we wouldn’t come a long way to this beach club.
In fact, based on our current experiences in Pattaya, we’d prefer to go to Phuket if we were staying in Thailand or Bali if we could be elsewhere in Southeast Asia. The beach clubs are simply not quite up to standard in Pattaya as a whole, yet.
