Edge Beach Club, Phuket Review: The Other Pullman’s Beach Club

We’d already visited the Ocean Beach Club in Phuket at the Pullman Karon Beach, and we’d been very impressed with what we’d seen, so our review team were very excited to find there was a second Pullman Beach Club in Phuket, the Edge Beach Club.

They hurriedly gathered their notebooks, sunscreen and swimming clothes for a hard day’s work lounging around by the pool, making notes on the things they loved and the things they didn’t, all so they could share that information with you, our reader.

So, this is what our team discovered on their trip to the Edge Beach Club, Phuket, at Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort.

Introduction – Getting To Edge Beach Club, Phuket

Getting to the Edge Beach Club starts with reaching Phuket, Thailand, and luckily, that’s simpler than it once was.

Phuket has an international airport, though during the off-season, flights from outside the region can be limited. Even if a direct flight isn’t available, catching a connecting flight through Bangkok is straightforward.

The flight from Thailand’s capital takes just an hour, so you won’t spend much time waiting at Suvarnabhumi before landing in the resort haven of Phuket.

Once in Phuket, if you’re not staying at the Pullman (where the beach club is just a short walk downstairs), you can easily hop in a ride-share or tuk-tuk to reach the club.

Even in the heaviest traffic, the trip from anywhere in the area should take no more than an hour.

Where Is Edge Beach Club, Phuket? 44, 5 Sakdidesh Road, Tambon Wichit, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand

Online: Edge Pullman

Opening Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (happy hours 3-4 p.m., takeout from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and kitchen from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) daily. Note: These hours may change on public holidays and local election days.

What’s Available At Edge Beach Club, Phuket?

There is a large pool which serves as a central feature for the beach club and it’s surrounded by daybeds and cabanas. You also get access to the restaurant and bar services provided by the resort.

One thing this beach club isn’t is a party spot, so while there is some minimal entertainment, you won’t find DJs, live music or people enjoying drinking games. It’s more for chilling with friends and family while on vacation.

Our Detailed Review Of Edge Beach Club, Phuket

We adhere to a consistent process for evaluating each beach club, ensuring fair consideration for owners, management, and staff, and offering reviews in a standardised structure that makes venue comparisons straightforward.

The review procedure is as follows:

  • A review team is assigned to assess the venue.
  • All members are required to visit the beach club, though they may do so separately and on different days.
  • At the venue, each reviewer completes a scorecard, rating the club from 1 (lowest level) to 5 (highest level) across designated categories, while also noting their observations.
  • Once all scorecards are submitted, the team convenes to discuss their findings and finalise category scores.
  • A designated team member then writes the review, capturing the team’s consensus and scores, before it is uploaded to our website.

Reservation and Booking Process

We hope that when this beach club reopens, they have a more effective system for reserving a spot.

For now, you simply fill out an email contact form, noting your preferred time, date, and number of guests, and that’s all.

There’s no assurance of a seat, no option to pick your seating location, and no way to pay a deposit to secure your spot.

Honestly, for a major hotel chain, we find this outdated booking process unacceptable in 2025.

They can and, quite frankly, should provide a far better system. When independent beach clubs like FINNS in Bali can offer a fully interactive booking platform, these global giants have no reason not to do the same.

Rating:

Ambience and Atmosphere

The focus at Edge Beach Club in Phuket centres on a 5-star luxury chill-out experience, and I believe they’ve achieved this remarkably well.

Walking through the door of this beach club makes you feel special. We thought the stunning pool design, which is surrounded by elegant daybeds that avoid a corporate feel while maintaining a cohesive vibe, sets the perfect mood.

This resort primarily attracts affluent families, and if you bring your kids, you’ll likely find it easy to connect with others and form holiday friendships.

We felt that we were calm and relaxed throughout our time at this beach club and we think that’s exactly what you want at a hotel beach club.

Rating:

Location And Accessibility

Phuket is a solid spot for beach clubs, and this one is located in a great part of the area. Driving to the club or taking a tuk-tuk or ride-share is simple enough.

Unlike most beach clubs in Phuket, this is a resort beach club, meaning some parking is available. However, resort guests get priority, so if parking is full, you’ll need to find a spot nearby.

Most of the beach club is wheelchair accessible, though it lacks facilities for disabled pool access.

Overall, you can’t really ask for too much more and there’s no doubt that the Pullman Resort this club is located in is also a good place to stay if you want to use the facilities a lot.

Rating:

Aesthetic And Design

This is distinctly a hotel beach club, so it’s visually appealing but carries a hint of a corporate atmosphere.

The corporate vibe isn’t as overpowering as in some resorts, but it still feels somewhat like a polished business operation rather than a unique, independent creation.

That’s okay, as it looks great in Instagram photos and is certainly better than a rundown venue. Corporations often uphold high standards, which is a plus.

However, if you’ve been to Ocean Beach Club, it’s not too dissimilar to that, and that’s because Ocean Beach Club is also in a Pullman Hotel.

That consistency between hotels is always a good thing but it also emphasises that this isn’t really a unique experience more a canned one that’s “good enough” for a holiday.

Rating:

Staff Friendliness and Professionalism (Service Standard)

The staff at Edge Beach Club are incredibly friendly, even by Thailand’s “Land of Smiles” standards, and it’s clear that the Pullman’s training team ensures this translates into top-notch service.

The team knows the local area inside and out, and they can guide you through the menu with ease.

If you need something specific, like an allergy check, they handle it courteously and efficiently.

Overall, we have no complaints at all about the standards of service at this beach club; everything works the way that you’d hope it would. It’s a stress-free environment.

Rating:

Service Speed and Efficiency

We found the service at this beach club to be both fast and efficient. We never felt delayed when placing an order or waiting for it to arrive.

Even the final bill came promptly, along with any change required. That’s something we really appreciate, as it’s often overlooked at beach clubs worldwide.

People often underestimate how much the speed and efficiency of service can make or break a day by the sea and we love it when beach clubs pull out all the stops to deliver a first rate service.

Rating:

Food Quality and Variety

We found the food menu to be excellent. It’s fairly straightforward, with enough variety to keep multiple visits during a vacation interesting.

The quality is top-tier, and we truly enjoyed dining at Edge Beach Club, where the food is also very Instagram-worthy.

Overall, there’s no question that Edge Beach Club delivers a fantastic poolside day with seriously tasty bites to enjoy.

Rating:

Beverage Selection and Creativity

The drink selection at this beach club isn’t extensive, but it’s thoughtfully curated, offering elegant, expertly crafted options.

They’ll definitely look great in your Instagram feed. However, as is common in Thailand, wine is very pricey, with an additional beach club and 5-star hotel premium.

It’s not a scam, just the reality. Still, we feel there are better drinking spots in Southeast Asia, and we wouldn’t choose to go to this beach club for the drinks, even though they still play a significant part in the quality of your day.

Rating:

Cleanliness and Hygiene

The Pullman enjoys a stellar international reputation as a hotel brand, so it’s no surprise that they work diligently to keep everything pristine and polished.

The pool is clean and well-maintained, which is essential since it’s the beach club’s centrepiece.

Likewise, the toilets and changing rooms are spotless, and we felt confident in the club’s hygiene standards.

That’s really important to us, and we think it’s really important to the families that tend to holiday at the resort and beach club too.

Rating:

Comfort of Seating and Lounging Areas

We really liked the seating at this beach club, as it’s one of the most comfortable spots we’ve found in Phuket.

The club seems to understand that lounging by the pool all day requires comfort.

While the seating in some other areas wasn’t quite as cozy, nothing at this beach club made us regret sitting down either.

Rating:

Music and Entertainment

This is a hotel beach club, so the music is piped in and, frankly, feels a bit bland and uninspiring.

It serves as a decent backdrop for conversation, but we doubt you’ll remember any of it ten minutes after leaving the beach club.

However, there is a fire show at this beach club, as there is at nearly every other beach club in Phuket, and it’s quite impressive.

If you’ve never seen one before, you’ll likely be wowed, but they do lose their appeal after a dozen or so viewings.

Rating:

Seasonality

They say Phuket has no true seasonality since the tropical climate keeps it warm year-round, which would be fine if not for the rainy season.

The rains in this part of Thailand can be relentless, sometimes pouring for days or even weeks with little break.

We tend to avoid Phuket during this time for that reason. Instead, we prefer Bali, where the rainy season brings only a few hours of rain daily and never stretches on endlessly.

Plus, Bali offers better value than Phuket all year, making it an appealing to opt for a trip to Indonesia’s paradise island.

Rating:

Pricing and Value for Money

You must purchase a “Day Pass” to use the facilities at Edge Beach Club in Phuket, but we appreciate that the pass’s cost converts into a food and beverage credit of equal value.

This means, unlike many beach clubs in the area, you’re not just paying to sit but agreeing to a minimum spend.

We think that’s reasonable. Beach clubs need to generate revenue, and a place like this wasn’t cheap to build or maintain.

However, as a 5-star hotel, the food and drink prices are higher than the average for Phuket’s beach club scene, though the quality ensures it’s never poor value.

Rating:

Beach Access and Quality

The beach here is beautiful, and the resort staff keep it clean and well-maintained. If you want to stroll along the sand or build sandcastles with your kids, this is a great spot.

Unfortunately, the water is heavily polluted, making it unsafe for swimming, and we strongly advise keeping children away from it.

Additionally, riptides pose a danger in the waters around Phuket, capable of pulling even strong swimmers out to sea.

So, we recommend sticking to the pool, which, to be fair, isn’t a hardship at Edge Beach Club, as the pool is its standout feature.

Rating:

Sustainability Practices

Edge Beach Club doesn’t provide sustainability reporting, but they have publicly committed to several initiatives.

The facility holds a Green Key certification and the Verified Bamboo Badge, a data-driven recognition of its efforts.

They are single-use plastic-free, dedicated to zero food waste, support turtle conservation and Soi Dog Foundation charities, and are committed to preventing child trafficking in local tourism communities.

We’d prefer more direct reporting, but this is a stronger start than most Phuket beach clubs and commendable work from the Pullman Group overall.

Rating:

Exclusive Perks for Guests

When you pay for the day pass, you receive a daybed and a towel as part of the deal.

That’s standard for beach clubs worldwide, and it’s perfectly fine.

However, we can’t understand why a luxury resort hotel beach club doesn’t offer VIP packages with extra inclusions for a higher price.

This seems like an obvious opportunity, and we’re disappointed it’s not available here

Rating:

Safety and Security

As a resort beach club, any vehicle arriving at the resort undergoes a security check.

The security team may also conduct random bag checks before you enter the beach club premises, which we see as a positive sign that they take guest safety seriously.

There are enough security staff on duty to ensure that, if any issues arise, which seems unlikely at this type of venue, they’ll be handled professionally before affecting other guests.

Rating:

Event Hosting Capabilities

This isn’t the largest beach club, and as a hotel facility, they prioritise guests over events.

However, they do host events, and if your group is small, you’re likely to have a great time at Edge Beach Club.

For larger groups, the hotel offers other facilities, and there are plenty of alternative options nearby if needed.

Rating:

Consistency of Experience

As a 5-star resort facility, you can count on a highly consistent experience.

However, this also means the experience doesn’t evolve much over time, as they focus on delivering the same standard repeatedly.

Rating:

Additional Amenities and Facilities

All the standard facilities you’d expect at a hotel beach club are available at Edge Beach Club in Phuket, and if you need anything else, it’s easy to find nearby.

This is Phuket, so something is always just a short drive away at most.

Rating:

Summary

If you enjoy lounging by the pool in relative luxury with tasty food and drinks served by polite, attentive staff, this is a great destination.

Edge Beach Club doesn’t redefine the hotel beach club experience, but it delivers a polished, pleasant time that anyone can enjoy.

However, if you’re looking to party and have a wild day out with friends, this isn’t the right beach club for you. It’s very much a calm, family-friendly spot.

FAQs

Can You Go Swimming At Edge Beach Club, Phuket?

The swimming pool at Edge Beach Club is undoubtedly its greatest asset and serves as the central feature of the beach club.

The water is clean, the area is well-maintained, and we enjoy the daybeds and hotel-provided towels when using the facilities.

You could, in theory, choose to swim in the sea since the beach club offers direct beach access, but we must point out that Phuket’s seawater suffers from severe pollution, and riptides can pull swimmers out to sea.

We recommend sticking to the pool, and honestly, at Edge Beach Club in Phuket, that’s no hardship at all.

What Is There To Do At Edge Beach Club, Phuket?

This is a hotel beach club, so the focus is on relaxing by the pool while enjoying food and drinks.

There’s little in the way of entertainment beyond piped music. It’s the kind of place we visit for a day of conversation and relaxation with friends and family, not for dancing the night away.

Is Edge Beach Club, Phuket, A Child-Friendly Venue?

As expected from a 5-star resort facility, Edge Beach Club in Phuket is family-friendly, and children are welcome throughout the venue.

However, we should note that there’s no dedicated children’s play area in this beach club, so your kids will need to entertain themselves while here.

They are welcome in the pool, and a lifeguard is on duty, but we always advise parents in Southeast Asia to keep a close eye on their children to ensure their safety and prevent them from disturbing other guests.

Who Is The Owner Of Edge Beach Club, Phuket?

Edge Beach Club in Phuket is part of the Pullman Resort, which belongs to the larger Pullman chain of hotels, itself a part of the Hilton Group of Hotels. Thus, the ownership consists of a group of internationally based shareholders.

Final Thoughts On The Review Of Edge Beach Club, Phuket

This is an archetypal hotel beach club at its best. You don’t go to these places expecting them to reinvent the wheel and deliver an amazing party experience; you go because they bring the 5-star hotel experience outside and let you chill by the sea while being waited on hand and foot.

We felt that they absolutely nailed this at Edge Beach Club, and if we were ever passing by, we’d be tempted to pop in for a few hours of being pampered like the rich and famous are.

However, it’s not really the sort of experience that you would travel especially to Phuket for; it’s the sort of thing you do once you’ve committed to the destination, particularly if you’ve decided to stay in the very pleasant Pullman Resort attached to it.
