Seminyak is one of Bali’s most popular resort towns, and there are a plethora of beach clubs to choose from, so when we heard there was a new kid in town, we wondered if it would be able to stand out from the pack there.

Our team swiftly packed their sunglasses, floppy hats and sunscreen and sprang into action, heading to Suka Sunset Beach Club so that they could delve deep into this beach club, and this is what they discovered there.

Introduction – Getting To Suka Sunset Beach Club

Obviously, the first challenge to get to this beach club is to get to Bali. There’s only one airport in Bali, for now, and it’s Denpasar International Airport (better known locally as Ngurah Rai International Airport).

It’s a short flight to Denpasar from Australia or most other parts of Southeast Asia, but it can be a long haul from Europe or North America.

Apart from the flight time, however, this isn’t really a big deal. Bali is so much cheaper than places like Miami, Croatia, Ibiza, etc. that you’re going to save the cost of your flights and then some by reducing the overall expenditure of your holiday without cutting any corners.

Once you’re in Bali, this beach club is on Seminyak Beach, and that’s one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. You’re within an hour or so’s drive (traffic permitting) of the airport, the other beach towns and Ubud, the island’s spiritual central town.

Then, when you arrive at the venue, this is a hotel beach club, so there’s parking available at the club and if you prefer to use a ride-share (and most people do), your Grab or Gojek driver can drop you at the door.

Every business in Bali is closed at this time, including the airport.

What’s Available At Suka Sunset Beach Club?

Our Detailed Review Of Suka Sunset Beach Club

We utilise a consistent approach to review each beach club, ensuring fair treatment for owners, management, and staff, while providing a uniform review format that facilitates comparisons across various venues.

The review process is conducted as follows:

  • A team is appointed to evaluate the venue.
  • Each member is required to visit the beach club independently, with no obligation to visit on the same day as others.
  • During their visit, every reviewer completes a scorecard, rating the club from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) in specified categories, and documents their observations.
  • Once all team members have completed their visits and scorecards, they meet to share their experiences and determine final scores for each category.
  • A selected team member then drafts the review, reflecting the team’s discussions and final scores, which is later published on our website.

Reservation and Booking Process

There are days that we want to bang our heads on the wall in frustration, and dealing with booking systems like the one used by Suka Sunset Beach Club leads to one of those days.

It’s 2025, sure, they accept walk-ins because it’s a new place and they’re not booked up, but one of the reasons they’re not booked up is the absence of a booking system.

There is simply no excuse for a high-end hotel property not to have a functioning booking system. “Message us on WhatsApp” is not good enough, particularly given that many overseas visitors to Bali may not even use WhatsApp.

It’s not expensive or hard to have a booking system, and it makes life much easier for potential customers and helps to guarantee that they have somewhere they want to sit when they get to your beach club.

Rating:

Ambience and Atmosphere

We found the overall atmosphere at this beach club to be quite charming. It’s clear that it’s new and there are a few minor teething problems, but the relaxed, chill-out vibe they’re going for is there in abundance.

We love the use of natural shade with trees around much of the resort’s fringes, supplementing the umbrellas by the daybeds.

We also feel that they’ve tried to create, at least, a little bit of an identity to this place; it’s not just a generic hotel beach club.

Rating:

Location And Accessibility

You can’t really go wrong with Seminyak in Bali. The beach town is one of the island’s most popular destinations, and it’s super easy to get to, particularly from the other beach towns and the airport.

The beach here is nice to walk on, and while it can get super busy, the strip in front of the beach club is rarely so crowded that it’s unpleasant.

You’re also in a prime position for a wonderful sunset view, as you’re on the right side of the island to enjoy the spectacle of the sun disappearing behind the horizon of the Indian Ocean.

Rating:

Aesthetic And Design

We found the overall design aesthetic here leads to a consistent branded feel, and it’s very pleasant to look at.

However, we also thought that it wasn’t particularly memorable. Everything looks nice in your Instagram snaps, but nothing stands out and screams for your attention either.

It’s not generic, but there’s a certain uniformity to the aesthetic appeal at this beach club, and you might prefer to go somewhere a little more distinct if you can only squeeze one beach club in Bali into your holiday on the island.

Rating:

Staff Friendliness and Professionalism (Service Standard)

One nice thing about Bali is that the staff are always friendly, it’s a trademark of the island’s welcoming and warm culture.

People here naturally make you feel that you’re valuable and part of why their day is a good one.

Resorts like this one then take that natural skill and polish it and give it a professional edge, where the friendliness is balanced with knowledge and passion for delivering amazing customer experiences.

Sure, there is still clearly a little more training to be done here, but overall, we were very impressed with the attitude of the staff.

Rating:

Service Speed and Efficiency

Mostly, we also thought that the service was speedy and efficient, and we were pleased to note that we didn’t have to work hard to get anyone’s attention at our daybed.

Better still, after our orders were placed, it wasn’t too long before the drinks and food started to arrive, and we could enjoy the sense of occasion that comes from being at a good beach club.

However, there were a couple of times that a reviewer was left waiting too long for a beer, and in one case, they had to ask for the check three times so that they could pay and leave.

This is a slight issue rather than a major problem, but it matters because your final impression at a beach club is as important as your first impression.

Rating:

Food Quality and Variety

We were very impressed with the range of food on the menu here, and we were even more impressed that they’ve not gone overboard on the prices.

While hotel beach clubs are often the most expensive places to eat, this one is extremely reasonably priced, which is great news as it also has a very low minimum spend requirement for the best seats.

We also thought that the food was of great quality, and it was presented beautifully too. We wanted to take pictures of the food here. Was it the best we’ve ever had at a beach club? No. But it was very good, indeed.

Rating:

Beverage Selection and Creativity

The drink selection wasn’t the biggest that we’ve seen at Bali’s beach clubs; in fact, it felt like a more tightly curated selection than most other places.

Despite this, the alcoholic cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails are creative and exciting, and if you opt for alcohol, the cocktails are more than strong enough.

Overall, you won’t get bored with the menu in a day, but repeat visitors may end up wishing for a bit more variety on the menu.

Rating:

Cleanliness and Hygiene

Any 5-star hotel facility ought to be clean and well-maintained, and the Suka Sunset Beach Club in Bali certainly didn’t disappoint us there.

Of course, it helps that this facility is basically brand new and thus, everything is starting out in tip-top condition.

The toilets, changing rooms, pool and pool area are all spotlessly clean, though, and we had absolutely no concerns regarding hygiene at this beach club at all.

Rating:

Comfort of Seating and Lounging Areas

While we thought that the seating at this beach club was very attractive, we didn’t think it was the most comfortable that we’d tried.

The beanbag chairs on the lawn are excellent, but the daybeds aren’t the best for a full day’s lounging by the pool while reading a book.

The restaurant seating also wasn’t our favourite, and we found ourselves shifting around a lot, trying to get really comfy.

Rating:

Music and Entertainment

The music here is canned, and while it’s not going to actively annoy you, we can’t imagine anyone actually being impressed by the tunes on offer at Suka Sunset Beach Club, either.

Maybe this will change when the place starts to fill up and they start to use music as more than just a backdrop to mask the absence of a big crowd?

We hope so, because we think that a better music policy might be just the thing that Suka Sunset needs to be transformed into an exciting beach destination.

Rating:

Seasonality

This is Bali, and it’s firmly in the tropics, which means that there are only two seasons here. A dry season, which is actually cooler than the wet season, but still more than warm enough for glorious days of sunshine and slightly less rainy.

That’s because the wet season isn’t that wet, it doesn’t rain every day like in Goa or Phuket, and Bali continues to see 8 hours of sunshine a day on average during the “wet season”.

That means there’s no bad time of year to visit Bali, and the island’s beach clubs don’t have any seasonal shutdowns or reduced services.

The only time they close is for the Nyepi holiday, which is a single day in either March or April; otherwise, it’s party on, all year long!

Rating:

Pricing and Value for Money

We thought that this beach club was good value for money and one of the cheaper offerings in Seminyak and Bali as a whole.

Sure, there are some small teething issues at this beach club, but that’s because it’s new; things are bound to keep improving for a while into the future as they get more experience.

Rating:

Beach Access and Quality

The beach in Seminyak is very pleasant, and it’s kept relatively clean by the beach clean-up crews employed by the resorts and beach clubs in this area.

It’s not the best spot for a swim, but then that’s true of the whole coast and why you should enjoy the infinity pool at the beach club instead of jumping in the ocean.

It’s also a fabulous place to watch the sunset when the entire sky lights up with reds, purples, yellows, oranges, etc.

Score: 5/5

Sustainability Practices

While many of Bali’s beach clubs, such as FINNS and Potato Head, are leading the charge towards a more sustainable future for the island, unfortunately, Suka Sunset Beach Club isn’t one of them.

The club has made no public commitments to sustainability, nor does it offer any kind of sustainability reporting. In short, this place must do better for the planet.

Rating:

Exclusive Perks for Guests

The minimum spend here is very reasonable, and you can enjoy a towel and a daybed in exchange for this low commitment.

However, we’d also note that they don’t offer anything over and above this very standard offering in Bali. We’d like to see a VIP tier with more stuff (for a fee).

This is good for both visitors seeking to treat themselves and the beach club’s margins.

Rating:

Safety and Security

We are firm believers in security efforts at beach clubs, and you will be searched on the way into this beach club and that’s a good thing.

There are also enough security guards present around the club itself to ensure that if any trouble does occur, it won’t impact your day.

Rating:

Event Hosting Capabilities

Currently, this beach club does not offer or promote event hosting. We assume that this is something they will examine once their staff are fully trained and the beach club becomes more popular.

Rating:

Consistency of Experience

It’s hard to be consistent when you’ve only just opened, but we found them to be as consistent as we could expect.

This was mirrored in conversation with other guests and examining other reviews for the property online.

Rating:

Additional Amenities and Facilities

This beach club has all the basic amenities you could expect at a hotel beach club and if you need something else, it’s probably only a short walk or drive away in Seminyak.

Summary

Suka Sunset Beach Club is off to a solid start, and we hope that as it gets busier, it will become better and better.

It’s hard to operate as a newbie in a highly competitive market like Bali’s thriving beach club scene, so we admire their pluck.

However, it’s very much a hotel beach club, which means it’s good for a quiet day by the pool and some nice food and drinks.

What it’s not much good for is a party, and that’s a bit of a shame. Seminyak’s beach club scene has plenty of chill-out spots and very few places where you can rage until dawn.

Overall, we’d come back to this beach club if we were passing through Seminyak, but we probably wouldn’t travel very far to get here, either.

FAQs

Can You Go Swimming At Suka Sunset Beach Club?

Yes, there’s a fabulous oceanfront infinity pool at this beach club, which looks absolutely amazing in your Instagram photos before you jump in and splash about a bit.

For now, most people don’t seem to know this beach club is there, which means you get to enjoy the pool for swimming whenever you want during the day.

However, we suspect that it will become much more popular over time, and the pool’s quite small, so when things do get busier, it may be that there are times when the pool is too packed to swim comfortably.

You can also swim on Seminyak Beach in the ocean here, but we wouldn’t advise doing so. While the beach is lovely to look at, the Indian Ocean on this coast can be treacherous.

Even strong, experienced swimmers have been dragged out to sea by riptides here, and it’s best to stick to the beautiful infinity pool in this beach club for a swim.

What Is There To Do At Suka Sunset Beach Club?

This is very much a hotel beach club facility, which means it’s a simple place focused on swimming in the pool, relaxing on daybeds (sun loungers), and eating and drinking.

There is no live music, no DJs, and no party environment at all, which means no entertainers, and there are no other real facilities beyond those designed to allow you to relax.

Is Suka Sunset Beach Club A Child-Friendly Venue?

Yes, as you’d expect from a 5-star resort-owned venue, this beach club is completely family-friendly, and children are welcome to use the pool and any of the other facilities here.

We should point out that while there is a lifeguard at the pool, none of Bali’s beaches have a lifeguard on duty, so if your kids stray onto the sand, you should make sure to keep an eye on them.

We would also note that Bali’s beach clubs expect parents to monitor and manage their children’s behaviour so that it doesn’t annoy any of their other guests.

Who Is The Owner Of Suka Sunset Beach Club?

This beach club is part of the Royal Seminyak Bali hotel. That’s a luxury 5-star hotel that neighbours the beach club.

The hotel’s ownership is not in the public domain, but we do know that this beach club was designed by a firm or architects known as Cave Urban.

Final Thoughts On The Review Of Suka Sunset Beach Club

We really liked Suka Sunset Beach Club, and we’d go back again for a chilled-out day by the pool if we were in Seminyak.

All that’s holding this place back at the moment is the lack of people inside it, and we suspect that will change over time.

For now, it’s busy-ish around sunset but quietish on either side of that time, so if you want peace and quiet, go early or arrive late.

And if you’re staying in the associated resort, this is an excellent example of a hotel beach club in Bali and adds real value to your holiday stay.
